elopements

The decision to elope has become a popular decision in the past few years. The typical wedding day can be undesirable for some couples. The pressure to create an event for hundreds of guests can be simply overwhelming and expensive. Instead, many couples are deciding to sneak off with their lover and get married on their terms in beautiful scenic locations. These intimate ceremonies are incredibly powerful, and the vows you make among nature can be filled with so much emotion and love.

Over the years I have explored The Wild West seeking unique locations that couples like you would want for your elopementWhether you are wanting to have an all abilities accessible ceremony location in the desert or you want to hike up to a high peak in the mountains and privately share vows. When you book me as your photographer, you can trust that we are on the same page and I want to make this epic of you.

Elopements are a special kind of thing for that special type of couple. The no nonsense and all the things that make sense for you. I will send a questionnaire to get to know you bette and I will give all my suggestions on things to do as a couple that make your day meaningful and unique to you. Let’s start planning!

weddings

Wedding photography is the catalyst of why I started my business. Photographing traditional weddings in particular started a fire in my heart. It created a personal realization of why photography matters. Traditional weddings will forever be special to me.

If you’re the couple who is all about the party, planning a big event, and having all of your people there surrounding you in your dream venue- let me be your photographer that is the smallest of your worries on your day. It means a lot to trust one individual to photograph a day that you will never relive, I know! I like to describe my vibe on wedding days as a fly on the wall, like I said on my home page- I try my best to not create moments and allow them to happen. I want your day to be as authentic as you want it to be. I will be your shadow during the day and you will be left with beautiful documentary style memories in photograph form.

All weddings require a $500 non-refundable retainer to reserve your date on my calendar. The remainder is due 1 week before wedding.

families

One thing that sets me apart from other family photographers is I am focused on making this an enjoyable experience for you. Having annual photos taken should not be an absolute pain, rip your hair out, bribery fest! I want to change the narrative of family sessions while we are together.

Changing just a few ways I navigate different aged people makes a huge difference in the final product. I love introducing music to my family sessions. You would be surprised how relaxed it makes you- the parents and its incredible! Before each family session I will have you send me a playlist of music that your family listens to.

My family likes to call me their entertainer. Because I am always focused on making sure everyone is having a good time. I will not hesitate to make your kid laugh by making fart noises, chasing them, and making an absolute fool of myself.

Family sessions should be fun, let’s plan an adventure in a scenic location and make it fun, quick and easy. After all, your family will never be this age again. What do you want to remember most about this time in your family’s life?

Frequently asked questions

We are super camera shy, how will you navigate that?

I understand that being in front of the camera can be intimidating, but I assure you that I don’t expect you to be models. I have worked with hundreds of different kinds of couples over the years. My goal is to make you feel relaxed and enjoy the little moments during your elopement. I find that humor brings out the best in people, and if we can laugh and shake off any nervousness, the photos will turn out naturally. It is also super important to I’ll be with you throughout the day, ensuring that it’s the best day ever!

What is an adventure wedding? Elopement? An intimate wedding?

An adventure wedding is a departure from traditional venue and reception norms. It can involve exchanging vows on a mountaintop reached by helicopter, backpacking to a secluded lake, or saying “I do” on a catamaran in the Caribbean. It’s all about creating a unique experience. Elopements have evolved from the idea of a quick Vegas wedding; now, couples are choosing more personalized and intimate celebrations. An intimate wedding typically includes up to 25 of your closest family and friends.

How can you elope in a National Park?

To elope in a National Park, I must apply for a permit as it’s considered a commercial shoot. I’ll assist you in the application process for a wedding permit in the National Park. Most parks are accepting of these applications, but in rare cases, they may be denied, in which case we’ll find an alternative location. Rest assured, I have many backup locations in mind to ensure an epic setting. The same applies to state parks and BLM land.

What is your editing style?

My editing style focuses on rich and bold colors while preserving the true colors of the elements. I’m a fan of high contrast and ensuring the sky and your skin tone retain their natural color.

What is your shooting style?

My shooting style is primarily candid and photojournalistic. I want your experience to unfold naturally, capturing real emotions, authentic expressions, and genuine moments. I want your photographs to be a reflection of your memories, evoking emotions even years later. I strive for a natural and candid look, often cracking jokes to keep things relaxed and authentic.

How many photos will we get and when can we expect them?

On average, an adventure wedding or elopement will yield 300-500 images, while a full-day traditional wedding produces 500+ photographs. A family or couple session of 1-2 hours typically results in 100-200 final images. Each gallery includes color and select black and white versions. You can expect to receive a full online gallery within 60 days after your session or wedding, with sneak peeks available within 7 days for elopements and weddings.

We don’t have an officiant and have no idea where to look, can you help?

Absolutely! Once you book with me, I can provide you with vendor recommendations, including officiants. However, if you’re looking for a quick and easy union, I am an ordained minister through The Universal Life Church and can officiate your ceremony. We’ll just need to find a witness on the trail if it’s just the two of you for your elopement.

How many people can come to our elopement?

Based on my experience, I’ve found that around 20 attendees maintain the perfect balance of intimacy and genuine vibes. An intimate wedding would include more than 20 people.

What if we aren’t big hikers?

I understand that not all couples enjoy long hikes, and that’s perfectly okay! I have many highly accessible locations, some even wheelchair-friendly, that will make your adventure elopement easier than you thought.

Where do you live?

I am based in Wallsburg, Utah, which is 45 minutes from Park City, an hour from Salt Lake City, and approximately 3.5 hours from Moab and 4.5 from Zion National Park.

How soon should we book you?

I typically book elopements and weddings up to a year in advance. This allows ample time to plan and secure permits. However, I can accommodate elopements with as little as 2 weeks’ notice. For family sessions, I can usually accommodate a one-week notice, but I prefer at least one month’s notice.

We are in a same-sex or non-binary relationship, do you photograph LGBTQ+ weddings?

Absolutely! Inclusion and diversity are important to me, and I am an LGBTQ+ friendly photographer. Love and adventure are for everyone, and I’m honored to capture the unique stories of all couples.

We want to keep some traditional parts of the wedding but still elope!

That’s wonderful! Your elopement can include elements like getting ready in the morning, having a first look, private vows, or exchanging vows in front of your guests. Your elopement is all about what matters most to you as a couple.
